5 Iconic Furniture Brands from Spain You Should Know About: Ondarreta. Humble Beginnings to Global Reach.
This is the fifth and final article in a series about iconic furniture brands in Spain. Founded in 1974, Ondarreta is known for its contemporary furniture. The story began at the Ondarreta beach in San Sebastian as a small carpentry workshop. From that humble beginning, Ondarreta has developed into a brand with a global reach, available in more than 50 countries.
The company considers the carbon footprint of its designs. It considers sustainability criteria, including using raw materials with considerations about their origin, reduction of assembly pieces, packaging, transport, minimizing excess, recyclability, energy efficiency in processes, and tapping into resources from the local economy. Seventy percent of production costs are to the local economy in salaries, taxes, and suppliers. Suppliers are within 1000 kilometres.
Collections
Gumi

The Gumi collection, designed by Made Studio, consists of six unique modules that offer endless configuration possibilities. Featuring soft, ‘gummy-like’ rounded shapes, the design aims to provide a comfortable and inviting piece, essential for humanizing architectural spaces.

Thanks to a hidden connecting piece, transitions between modules are seamless, enabling both traditional compositions and non-traditional arrangements with distinct identities.

Hari

Hari is a collection of chairs, armchairs, and stools. Inspired by the world of textile looms, it has an industrial aesthetic, softened by the delicacy of its thread, creating a subtle and elegant collection.

The combinations of seats and backrests make Hari a collection with a unique personality. Its design consists of a carefully chosen palette of materials, creating a series of pieces with great expressiveness and a striking appearance.

Bob XL

As everyone finds comfort in different places, the Bob family adapts to every moment, every life, person, and space available. A family that grows and adapts to space and use with its metallic and wooden structure versions.

Its wooden frame, available in dyed and varnished beech, maintains its natural essence and the softness of its shapes. It may also be upholstered for a greater sensation of comfort.

Supra

The Supra collection, designed by Swedish Note Design Studio, is a seating collection that stands out for clean lines and a linear silhouette.

The outside and the back of the chair are straight. The comfort of the pieces is within the inner curvature that embraces users by accommodating their back and providing additional flexibility when leaning backward.

The look of a piece can change completely depending on the chosen finish and structure.
