Masquespacio’s Latest Project Harbours Mediterranean Living. Valencian Style.

Masquespacio is an award-winning studio based in Valencia that knows how color, texture, and space work together to create emotion. Their latest project for Danzas Studios, a chain of holiday apartments in Valencia, takes its name from the street in the old town where the apartment is located. The brief for the project was to create an interior where guests experience an authentic Mediterranean lifestyle through vernacular interior architecture and design.

The apartment has a surface of 55 square meters. Most of the products, furniture, and finishes are by local makers. These include the terracotta floors and the lattice bricks used to divide the space and to make the bases for the tables in the living room. This space is warm and colourful with references to Mediterranean style and tradition but without being confined by it. Masquespacio incorporated decorative elements and materials that break with convention, such as the silver curtain used in the kitchen area and the tubular lamps sconces.

Other standout features are the ceramic and wood lighting and seating, and the artworks by Mas Creations, Masquespacio’s design studio. Objects and furniture in the living room from Mas Creations include the green U chairs and, on the table, from left, the Ball Pot Ceramic and the Cono’ flower pot.

The studio applied trencadis, a varnaular technique for which mosaics have irregular forms, generally with glazed ceramics. It is used in the kitchen walls and on some headboards.
